Design Process

The first step in designing your Ottawa deck project is a meeting in your home to go over some of the basic question that need to be addressed.  During this initial meeting we can talk about trends in Ottawa, ideas for your space, and future additions.  This information gives us enough to do a rough on the spot design and get some feedback about what you think.  

Customers should consider what type of material you want your deck to be made from.  These range from low cost pressure treated wood to more expensive but zero maintenance composite (plastic) woods.  Most customers don’t know the advantages of each product and its during the initial consultation where we can show you the differences.  This decision won’t really change the design so it is something you can think about while we go away and create something. 

Next, our team works on a custom design in line with scope of the project, materials required, timeline and the most exciting part, a 3D colour rendering of your deck.  All this information is presented to the customer where more feedback is obtained and changes can be made.  

The initial meeting and estimate is complimentary however we take a deposit for an official design. The deposit is taken off the final bill if you hire us to do your deck renovation.  Customers  sometimes ask why we charge a deposit.  The answer is, designs take a lot of time to complete and it isn’t something you want to rush.  By charging for the design we ensure your project gets the attention it deserves.  If you choose us to complete the work then the deposit is  included in the price.
